Ghana-based afro-soul singer bigBen presents a new project, an EP titled “Back to Jtown”. “Back to Jtown” is a 5-track project where the talented singer displays his abilities over hip-hop, trap, and afro-pop beats, proving himself versatile in a number of ways.

“Back to Jtown” is dubbed a “pre-EP”, as this project is actually a precursor to another project that is soon to follow, called the “ME x ME” EP, so this is just a taste of what’s to come from the Loving You crooner.

The project boasts features by Tray, Efraim, Ko-Jo Cue, and S.mac, and production by Unknown, Lesane, MOG, and bigBen himself. All tracks were recorded, mixed, and mastered by bigBen.

As a tribute to the city that raised him (Jos, Nigeria), “Back to Jtown” has bigBen incorporating the musical influences of his hometown, placing emphasis on hip-hop (as Jos is well known to be a hub of urban hip-hop culture in Nigeria), with the occasional afro-pop tune here and there. However, no tune is less of a jam than the next, whether it be the adrenaline-pumping ethos of Bullion Van, or the classic loverboy vibes of Hold Up.

The attempt to fuse his current “Ghana-centric” sound with the sound of his roots resulted in a project that definitely makes for an enjoyable listen, especially for lovers of diverse music. We’re definitely looking forward to his next project, and you should too.
