Activities are in top gear as Akwa Ibom’s first and most-visited news-blog (Wetinhappen Magazine) marks her 10th year anniversary on November 14, 2017. The anniversary will be marked with #TheCon10nt – a 10-day mentoring session for 10 aspiring bloggers in Akwa Ibom State.
Chatting with the Press in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, CEO of WetinhappenPR – publishers of wetinhappen website, Aniekan James Ekah, says the agency’s decision to mark its 10th year anniversary with a mentor-ship session is way of giving back to the society, while contributing its quota to be emerging online ecosystem in Akwa Ibom state.
“WetinhappenPR will do more in months to come. We have identified a few grey areas in the blogging industry and we would like to step in to make a difference. We have few niche bloggers in this part of the globe and we would like to raise 10 strong blogging brands in Akwa Ibom before the year 2023.” he said.
While describing the past blogging years as rewarding, challenging and demanding, Aniekan said “We have grown from a one-room business to a full agency and the support we’ve enjoyed so far from family, partners, readers, clients and the Government is tremendous! If we can make something out of nothing, we believe everyone else can! Special thanks to Creating Local Connections West Africa (CLCWA), for helping me realize my potentials, through peer-led trainings, media creations and strategic use of information and communication technologies, they mentored and equipped me with ICT skills; it’s now my turn to mentor others!”
“Over the years, we’ve witnessed the emergence of new blogging brands across the state but we are keen on raising niche bloggers who will focus on Beauty and Fashion, Sport, Food, Personal Finance, Health and Fitness, Lifestyle and Personal Development; thereby changing the one-way “politics” narrative in Akwa Ibom State.” He said.
The session will hold at Wetinhappen’s Corporate Office, in Ewet Housing, Uyo. Registration for the mentorship session commences on Wednesday 11th and ends on Saturday 21st October, 2017. Registration is FREE but interested participants MUST own a laptop to qualify for this programme. Click HERE OR HERE to Register.
